🚨 SECURITY AWARENESS: BEWARE OF POS DEVICE S WAP FRAUD POS operators and business owners should remain alert to a growing form of fraud involving the theft and s wapping of POS device. In this type of scam, two fraudsters may visit a POS operator while pretending to be genuine customers who want to make a withdrawal, transfer, or other transaction. While one fraudster engages the POS operator in conversation and deliberately creates a distraction, the second fraudster may use sleight of hand to secretly s wap the operator's genuine POS device with a different one that may be cloned, modified, or pre-configured for fraudulent activities. The operator may be left holding a useless or fraudulent device, while the criminals leave with the genuine, active POS device linked to the operator's account.
